Blue Heron "Blue Heron" was inspired by a leather carving for a case I made to hold my bird field guide. It turned out so well, I wanted to put it in a pageset design too. There is a heronry about 8 miles from our home and you can see hundreds of nests with the parents standing on the nests for weeks in the spring. Around our town, one heron stays all winter every year. We have no idea what he finds to eat when the ponds are frozen over but he manages to survive. He can fly, so I guess going south for the winter does not appeal to him as much as is does to us! (ah, if only).
